A 240W laser was used to cut stainless steel
tubing, resulting in clean cut edges with no burring.

This 5/8-inch diameter stainless steel tubing was cut using 240 watts of laser power. The thin-wall (0.16") material exhibited clean cuts with a slight amount of dross. A rotary stage turned the tubing at 150 RPM while a gas jet manifold holding a 2.5” positive meniscus lens focused the beam and provided oxygen at 45 PSI to assist the cutting process. Each cut required approximately two seconds to complete.
